I never found shooting pumpkins satifying, watermelon on the other hand are just epic to shoot at.

Agreed. Just not enough internals to react to anything. Small, tennis ball sized pumpkins make great aerial targets for shotguns, though. Wear a hat to keep the pumpkin out of your hair.

So no explosion with a pumpkin....not even at 500 yards? That sucks! we were supposed to bring ten with us to the range on Sunday. May have to rethink our goals
