Right now I am currently doing time in Afghanistan. I should be getting released in a few months and I would like to have a rifle waiting on me for my return. As the title so points out I am considering the two rifles mentioned. I am throwing this thread out there to get some opinions.

Right now I am seeing some 700s on GB for around 1500 and the 110BA for around 1900. Does anyone out there have any experience with the both of these? I have been told the Savages are pretty good out of the box but do not offer up much in the line of custom. Also I have read about some issues with groups and cartridge extraction problems. If the Savage is better OOTB than the Remy, how much better? With the 300-400 saved on the Remy I would plan on throwing that right back towards the gun. What are some issues people are having with the Remy 700.

So if there are any Savage enthusiasts please chime in as I know there are a ton of Remy 700 Enthusiasts. I want to hear both sides of the story.

Also, I have yet to customize a rifle and through searching I have seen tons of different companies out there for every piece of the rifles. I am not familar with who is well known for what, so if it would be acceptable to post, could some of you walking encyclopedias throw out some names of reputable smiths/companies and what parts they are known for (both Remy&Savage). I am not asking for a marketing campaign or advertising, just a whos who and to get pointed in the right direction.
