Remington 700 PCR Enhanced

This is an interesting video, the commentator mentioned something about Remington redoing some of their Machining in house so people will no longer need to blueprint their Remington actions. Not sure how true this is or not but figured I would pass it along.

Saw another video talking about remington accurizing their rifles from the factory going forward, at least perhaps there will be certain rifles that come from the factory accurized without going the custom shop route.

I am not a Remington fan, but I couldn’t pass up the blow out pricing Midway had on the 1st gen PCR in 6.5 Creedmoor. Having received it, I gotta say it’s pretty nice. Had to replace the craptastic trigger, but the rest looks good. Bolt is wearing evenly, bore scopes out pretty good for factory, and it’s not broken in fully but is easily shooting sub moa with American Gunner 140 HPBT. I’m impressed, as I expected to have the receiver trued and the barrel replaced trying to get it to shoot. Oh, and mine came with the mloc forearm which was a pleasant surprise.

Mlok on the 1st gen pcr? I thought it had that weird hybrid style. Thats interesting it had mlok, and good to hear its doing well. For the money i think these are good rifles (from all ive read).

With Savage, Ruger, Browning, Tikka, and Mossberg all making affordable sub-MOA rifles out of the box, I wouldn’t be surprised if Remington finally pulled their head out and got their crap together.

Remington has been making the 5R rifles for a while now. I have never shot a gen2 , but the gen 1 Remington’s are fantastic. I bought one in 2017 and it is far and away better than a typical 700. Smooth action and they shoot as good as anything.

I have an old stainless on in 308 with the jeweled bolt and its a shooter. Just got the PCR in 6.5 Cm, put a Tract scope on it and shot a couple sub .5 MOA groups. Looking to take it long.

Last Rem I bought was a 700P years back. Had to put two piece scope mounts on it and lap the hell out of them because the receiver mounting holes were so off line couldn't mount a one piece. The trigger had to be replaced. Ridiculous amount of freebore. The chamber could be better. That said I did load development and managed to find a 3/4 moa load. THAT said I built an F/TR rifle a couple of years later in .308 that cost three times as much and pretty much shoots anything UNDER 3/4 moa. Best load is a ragged hole.

Yeah, the MDT stock is a plus, but unless Remington has upped their game considerably I'd probably go with a Tikka nowadays.
