Hello I am looking for a solution to a problem that I am having with my hinged floor plate.

If I load 4 rounds into the rifle the first round will chamber and fire. The second seems to get "hung up." Basically the round ends up on an angle, bullet facing up and primer side down in the magwell. If I go to close the bolt, the bolt hits the middle of the brass case.

Now when I open the floor plate there is movement in the aluminum piece inside the magwell. I can move it up and down, back of the aluminum piece(split side) feels tight but theres play in the front of it.

I don't know if that has to do with the problem or if it has to do with the follower or spring.

I know I could always grab a badger or cdi dbm, but I like the hinged floor plate and don't have the funds to upgrade to dbm just yet.

Sometimes the follower doesn't run freely in the aft part of the magazine if it's a little too snug laterally.

Hard to say for sure, but here's how I've cured that issue,

Remove the floorplate and magazine. You'll notice the magazine is split down the back center. Spread the top rear part of the magazine so it's a little too wide to fit in the magazine inlet in the receiver. Then press the magazine together just enough to get it in the magazine inlet of the receiver, and it springs outward holding itself in the inlet. reassemble rifle and see how it runs.

The above helps and I have one rifle that has a older milled follower and it takes up a little less room as well, compared to the newer stampings. I have seen the milled followers for sale on midway and brownells IIRC... if your so inclined.

Just keep in mind Remington advertises a 4 round capacity...

So I tried bending out the top end of the metal magazine surround and I also tried the bending of the follower spring like in the video. Assembled the stock back on and still have the issue. I really do not want to take it to a gunsmith or add a dbm at the moment. I understand it only has the capacity of 4 round, but does that mean 3 in the mag system and one loading in the chamber? or 4 in the mag system 1 in the chamber? If I load 4 in the mag I still have the same problem which seems to be the follower is pushed down to far and actually gets held up by the metal surround(metal plate that fits in the receiver.)
Now if the recommended capacity is 3 in mag +1 loaded in chamber then yes this error was my fault although I though it was able to load 4 in the mag/floorplate system.
