I'm working on a lightweight build based on a MDT LSS chassis and couldn't find a step-by-step thread here on the Hide for a LSS build. So ... here goes.

This is a budget-ish build that will eventually be suppressed (Originally tried to buy my suppressor using the EForms system, but that's going nowhere fast. Time to start over with paper forms.). My initial intent was to build a lightweight rifle for the 24 Hour Sniper Adventure Challenge, but I think this will make for a fun shooter out to 900 yards or so. (Yes, I realize that the 24HSAC may involve shots out to 1500 yards. We'll see how this performs past 900 or 1000.)

Rifle: Remington SPS Tactical AAC with 16.5" Barrel in .308
Chassis: MDT LSS
Buttstock: Magpul MOE Collapsible
Pistol Grip: Magpul MOE
Cheek Riser: Magpul
Bipod: Harris 1A2-BRM 6-9"
Scope: Vortex Viper PST 6-24X50 MRAD Reticle
Scope Base: Badger Ordnance 20 MOA
Scope Rings: Badger Ordnance 30mm

Parts Weight:

Still waiting on delivery of some of the parts. Will update as I make progress.

LiW LSS buiild

I did a similar project on a Savage HH 308 and I am still trying to figure out what glass I'm going to use. The weight turned out t be a Little disappointing, but my weapon has a lot of parts that are several OZs heavier than You are planning to use so hopefully you will have better luck. The weapon as shown with a 1/2 mag of 168 match is 9. 8 Lbs. I did cut the barrel to 16.25 so that would be similar to the Rem but it is a folders and the G Shock stock certainly heavier that the Moe. Good luck with the build and I will be interested to see where you end up with it.

Thanks. 9.8 lbs without glass, right?

The weapon is 9.8 exactly as its shown. with no rings and glass but with bipod, a magpul rail w/ small front grip and a sling.
The Hog Hunters barrel diameter is a little lighter at .750 so I'm looking forward to seeing how low you can go with the AAC

Install is stupid-simple.

Remove the two screws that attach the original stock to the action.
