buddy has a remington 721 for sale 250$ he said its the same as a 700 action?I was wondering if its good for a donor action for a build? Its in 264 magnum which seems pretty decent as i handload but would love some input if this would be a good low budget project?
thanks for your time

Re: remington 721/

It is not the same as a 700 but is real close. You cannot mount a 700 style trigger on them unless you remove the safety lever or remove metal from the right side of rear tang for lever to clear.

Also the 721/722 used a different extractor and they are real hard to come by, especially in standard caliber but not many mag calibers to be had either. Just something to think about.

Re: remington 721/

Get a jewel with a bottom saftey and have a smith install a sako extractor and you have a rem 700
