if these are bad, just how bad. on line reviews are the usual. they suck or they're great at price point. barrels and triggers get a big dis. accuracy claimed to be close to MOA. what say you?

OK forget it. the gun broker thread here seems close on. was watching 1 @ $215. now $505 so,not a chance.

I have a 783, short heavy barrel 6.5 creedmoor. The stock is really cheap Tupperware, I do like the the trigger, the bolt is very smooth not many rounds through it has been a little better than MOA out to 300. The issue with the 783 is being able to upgraded it, stocks and barrels are limited as it’s NOT Remy 700 pattern.

I have one in 300 WM. Put on a Rem-age barrel and dropped it onto a Boyd’s stock. Shoots fantastic. Had it out to 2,000 yards.

Nothing wrong with the 783 action or trigger. My 6br is on a 783. Factory trigger is able to go down to 2 pounds. Mine rides in a factory laminate varmit style stock. Northland shooters supply offers criterion pre fit barrels.

Take Remingtons shitty QC and then combine it with their bargain bin model… that’s the 783.

If you need a budget rifle a Ruger American is the best their is and they really aren’t bad rifles at all. If you can spend a little more though the Howa 1500/Weatherby Vanguard S2 is well worth the added cost.

They're not bad at all, and will shoot 1 MOA out of the box, but the barrels are thin and heat quick. The action itself is decent and event the trigger. I put this together from a .308 783 I had laying around and in the XRS Chassis along with preffered barrel blanks barrel, its a sub minute rife and then some. would it be my first choice to build something like this? of course not, but just wanted to see how it would turn and, and i was quite impressed. 24" full bull, 5R 1/10 with match .308 chamber finished off with muzzle break, and a 5-25x56 Vortex Venom.
