Hi, New here. I just wanted to drop a line on this model Remington 700. I found my way here on a search for this exact rifle after I had purchased it And was unable to find any literature on it. Essentially I went to my local gun shop to order an aac-sd only to be informed they were back-ordered. Me, being impatient told the gentleman what I wanted in my rifle, 20" threaded heavy barrel, SA, .308, he called around and came back with a "Remington 700 SPS Varmint Tactical". Never hearing of this I was curious and said ill take it. After i picked it up I did some research, which led me here, only to find it was 1 of 500 rifles that Remington made a special run of in their custom shop. The barrel is stamped LT Tactical1:10 twist, 20" fluted heavy barrel, threaded and bedded in a varmint stock.
I haven't changed out the stock yet but I have fitted it with some glass, a Konus Pro M30 10x40, and put 200rnds through it. Neither disappoint. The action is your typical Remington action that we've all come to love and the trigger is an X-Mark fully adjustable trigger. The mil-dot reticle is engraved in the second focal plane so you can only accurately mil targets on the 12x, it comes standard with lockable turrets that you can zero out once you find your zero, and a nice feature is it has a bubble level inside the scope you can see when looking down range.
I was using Sierra Outback 168grn match grade rounds. Once zeroed, at 100yds. I was holding consistent sub moa 3 shot groups (size of the base of a 12g shell). This wasn't even off a rest I was shooting prone off a bipod.
I was truly impressed and in my opinion you cant ask for better out of the box accuracy for $700. I cant be happier with this purchase. I hope this can shed some light and answer some questions on this rifle. Thanks.
