Not pleased with the visibility of the stock rifle sights on the 870 20" deer barrel, got some True-glo fiber optic replacements for front blade and rear leaf.

Question is, which direction does the front dovetail drift out? Saw a reference that it goes from left to right as you look from the rear of the gun, but it does not want to go very far.

Hate to screw things up by forcing it. Anyone know the correct direction to knock the blade out of the dovetail?

Left to right. Beware because the front sight blade insert is probably black maxed in to fill the bottom dovetail gap. Be ready to fit.

Thanks for the reply, so the L-r as seen from the rear is correct. Black max being a black epoxy for cosmetic reasons?

Have a Williams sight pusher on order to avoid banging away with punches, which is quite stalled after maybe.030" of lateral movement. Want to make sure I do not mess up the barrel.

Yes, left being from Shooter's perspective, NON ejection port side. Good luck, not too difficult. Yes the eopxy is partially looks, and also helps make sloppy factory dovetails tight so tolerance can be thrown to the wind, and under heavy recoiling slugs/magnum loads it doesn't come flying out.
