Does anyone feel like the Remington R700 in 6.5 Creedmoor is still a viable option for PRS? I dont see too many people running Remingtons in PRS. Yet, the military runs them.

I'm currently running a R700 and it seems to be fine. Holding groups just shy of 1 MOA with Hornday 140 Gr.

If it's what you have, run it. No reason to spend more now. Go to a few matches and get your feet wet then find out what you need after that. Tons of peeps will let you try their gear (tripods, bipods, bags, mats). Remington has simply fallen off with all the better options in actions. By the time you true up a Remington action, add all the bells and whistles, and coat... you're at the price tag of a really nice custom action (or close to it).

Absolutely. Run that rem 700 and get some experience. You will get caught by the bug and want to upgrade. I did but that rem 700 never made me miss a shot.

Nothing wrong with running a Remmy. People who have custom actions have them because they either had some spare cash on hand and didnt mind paying top dollar for the minor improvements a custom offers, or, they didnt already have a rifle so they wanted to start off with the best they could afford.......... Or secret option three... Like me, they didnt have the cash, but bought a custom anyways because all the cool kids had them and they lack self-control.

I shoot 1, maybe 2 big matches a year, and 6-7 local matches. I run a Remington 700, hasn't been trued, or had any work done to the action. I screwed a barrel on it, installed a Tubb trigger, bought a good scope base(Nightforce), Grayboe Renegade stock that's been bedded, and a PTG bottom metal. Eventually it will be sent to LRI for a bolt tig and time because primary extraction is weak.

If I miss my shots, it's my fault.
