PRODUCT SAFETY WARNING AND RECALL NOTICE

This is a recall notice from 2014.
It is still active.
Since we moved in 2014, it's worth putting back up here in case anyone missed it.

Remington Arms Company, LLC (“Remington”) is voluntarily recalling Remington Model 700™ and Model Seven™ rifles which were manufactured from May 1, 2006 through April 9, 2014 and which have an X-Mark Pro® (“XMP®”) trigger. Rifles manufactured after April 9, 2014 are not subject to recall.

WARNING:

STOP USING YOUR RIFLE. Any unintended discharge has the potential for causing injury or death. Immediately stop using your rifle until Remington can inspect it to determine if the XMP trigger has excess bonding agent used in the assembly process, which could cause an unintentional discharge and, if so, replace the trigger mechanism. If you own a rifle subject to this recall, Remington will provide shipping, inspection, replacement of the trigger mechanism if necessary, and return at no cost to you. DO NOT attempt to diagnose or repair your rifle yourself. Contact Remington

For the safety of you and those around you, Remington strongly encourages you to STOP USING YOUR RIFLE immediately and contact Remington for inspection and repair. To participate in this recall, visit the Remington Recall Center at xmprecall.remington.com. Old news...why post this?
The real issue is people don't follow the safety rules don't load the weapon unless you intend to shoot--decide to not shoot...unload (or lift bolt) problem solved

Another one? Sounds like they didn't fix anything the last time, why send it in again? I'm surprised people just don't fix this themselves and replace the POS x-mark.

Actually, some of the recorded discharges happened by simply pushing the safety forward and also when attempting to lift the bolt.........so......

It is still very much relevant. Story just last night on 60 Minutes.

Safety devices are on most firearms. If there are issues with certain ones not working then they need to be addressed.

Sig recently had a similar issue, and they too issued a recall, and handled it beautifully I might add.
I am sure most would agree that it was warranted.

Every example on 60 Minutes was handling a rifle with poor muzzle discipline. Never mind the rifles were loaded. "60 Minutes. Your World According To Us."
