Is it logical to assume I could buy a new bolt from PTG and make a SA 223 to a SA 300WSM with a barrel change?

I have been reading and some people think a SA has different dimensions for different cals. Others disagree. What's right?

Re: Remington Short Action Cal Change?

it woulden't feed from the magazine wihtout some work to the feed rails but other than that and bolt a short action is a short action , you atualy don't even need to get a new boot , your current one can be opened up to fit the WSM

Yeap, just have a Sako style extractor installed..

Re: Remington Short Action Cal Change?

I am having Badger bottom metal put in and will be using the Alpha Ind 300WSM mags. I want to keep my 223 bolt in tact so I could go back one day if desired.

Thanks for the info guys.

Re: Remington Short Action Cal Change?

i saw over on savage shooters that Jim Briggs has remington barrels set up like a savage, so its feasible you could have a switch caliber on a 700 action that you could change back and forth.

ETA: Briggs is Northlander
