What are you guys doing about them. Are you having the barrel rechambered and set back or just learning to load around ir as best you can.

Everyone knows Remington has had long throats for years. No big deal. If the rifle shoots OK just shoot it until the barrel needs to be replaced. If it doesn't shoot replace the barrel now. There you go, a binary go-no go solution set.

My pre "5R" 5R (700SS model 2008) rifle has an extremely long throat. It shot very accurately with Sierra 175, 168 and 155's as well as Hornady 178 HPBT. I could never get any of the tipped bullets to shoot worth a crap. It liked to shoot fouled and once I stuck a bore scope down the barrel I figured out why. I would be more concerned about crap rifling or inconsistent bore diameter.

Excuse the pic of the screen from my phone. The train tracks are all the way down the barrel from chamber to muzzle. Each section of the rifling varied in marks. Some much worse than others. The center of the barrel seemed tighter since that part always had the most copper fouling. Yet somehow this barrel still shot lights out. Now that I built a custom this has to go. Time to rebarrel after 2500 rounds of 308.
