    Hello all,

As title says, I want to remove my paint job from my Howa HCR. I can probably use some sort of paint thinner, maybe acetone, or a few other household items. My biggest concern is, I don't want to remove the original finish on the rifle and leave the bare metal exposed. Will i be good to go with just about any paint thinner? Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Serg

ive used acetone tons and its never harmed the factory finish.

another option to look into is Soda-blasting........if you have an air compressor, you can get a soda blasting gun for like $15..........fill it with baking soda and go to town......this also wont harm a factory finish.

I'm not too sure what the finish is called. It's black, feels relatively rough, and if I rub something on it, it will leave a rather white-ish mark on the finish, not permanent though.

Fresh Parkerizing does the white mark thing if you rub it.

If the rifle is parkerized acetone will not harm the finish.
