Great advise I have done it that way for years never had a problem but the eye protection is a smart precation and I always wear it.

Thats why I like this site! I've mentioned this on other sites, and people run in fear..LOL! Lots of common sense around here.

Modern primers are quite resistant to damage from oils. That doesn't much matter, it's perfectly safe to decap live primers normally. But it's a very good idea not to let a pile of live ones accumulate in a primer catcher tray.
