Gunsmithing Removing Alumahide

Re: Removing Alumahide

Blasting would be the way to go especially if it was the bake on version. I had a rifle painted in it once and didn't find anything that would completely strip it. So I got my first blast cabinet, and it's a purchase that I don't regret at all. If your paying someone else to do it your pissing money out the window.

Re: Removing Alumahide

Go buy some of the gel-type paint stripper from your local hardware store. Alumahyde wil nearly melt off. Scrub the nooks and crannies with an old toothbrush, and you can have it completely clean in a very short time.

Turco will do just fine.

Re: Removing Alumahide

Brake Cleaner curls Alumahyde II right off after you spray and let it evaporate. It may take a few sprays to get it off but I've always found it to come off like latex glove.
