I have 300 rounds of 40 year old military 7.62 ball ammo. I think I want to just use the brass in reloads and can easily remove the bullets & powder, but is there a safe way to remove the old primers since they're still "live"? Or should I just go to the range and shoot all this stuff?!

    Personally, I'd just shoot it.

If you are going to toss the primers and REALLY want to go through the work, pull the bullets and powder and pour some water in the cases. Then knock them out, tumble the cases like usual and load 'em back up.

If the Head stamp is "TW" do you have a cash price. (TW Head stamp only)

No, sorry, it's not TM. What I have is:

1969, with head stamp: 69 IVI

1963, with head stamp: 63 I OJP (<span style="font-style: italic">however, the O in OJP has dots on top/corners (not umalauts) that make it look like Mikey Mouse ears</span>) Any idea what those are?

The box says: OJP 1964 (<span style="font-style: italic">though there is a stamp on bottom of box saying 1963 and so is the head stamp</span>), 20 7,62mm S-Patronen/StG 58.

    Re: Removing Primers?

Unless there's serious evidence of corrosion or temperature abuse, the 7.62 ammo should be quite usable.

Military brass will likely have crimped primers, which would complicate removal and/or reloading to some degree.

It may also have an asphalt-like sealer inside the neck.

In the long run, simply shooting it will be a far simpler solution. Once that's done, the process becomes a lot more conventional, although the primer crimp will still remain.
