I am preparing to rebarrel an older model Savage 12 blind magazine model with accu-trigger.
How the heck do I get that stamped metal magazine body off the action without damaging it?
I expected it to be a split affair like on my 700's and just come right off, but it is attached directly to the action.

    Thanks

I have an older 110 action with the blind mag well...I just went from the bottom outside of the mag well and used a small flat tip pry bar and pushed the clip from the front of the action in and to the side and got the sheet metal to pop out...it took some time and patience, but it worked...

I'm working on a Savage 12 now, and had the same problem. I put the barreled action muzzle down into a soft cloth (folded up towel). I then took a flat tip screwdriver and placed it up against the magazine box where it meets the receiver (trigger was removed already). With a hammer, I gave the back of the screwdriver a pretty good whack. The force was enough to compress the sheet metal and pop the magazine box pop right out. Re-installation was done in a reverse.

    Hope it helps

It's easy. Install the front action screw. Take a recoil lug and wedge it in between the magazine and the screw. With the palm of your hand push the loop of the lug down to the action. It will pop the magazine right out.

To get it back in, start the tab in the rear slot with the action leaning up against something soft with the tang down. Put a large blade screwdriver in the crook of the magazine tab. Smack the screwdriver with the palm of your and and it will pop right in.

    Thanks for the feedback.
I gave up on it. I was going to use the action wrench and barrel nut wrench to remove the barrel but went the barrel vise and nut wrench route instead. It worked very well.
    My model 12 now wears a 24" varmint contour L-W 1-10" .308 barrel.
Won't be able to shoot it till Sunday.
