Gunsmithing Removing Savage Thread Cap

Good afternoon, guys,

What do you recommend for removing the knurled thread cap from muzzle of a Savage without damaging the barrel or cap finish?

Any special tricks, or just a barrel vise with padded jaws and a strap wrench?

it shouldn't be all that tight, try a "strap wrench"
