I recently re-chambered my .308 as a 6.5creedmoor and quickly realized that the stock that came with my 700p no longer fits my rifle after selecting a heavy varmint barrel contour. I've been looking at the AICS 2.0 folding stock and was wondering if any knows if that stock would fit my new barrel.

As anyone also tried shaving off the sides of the HS Precision stock to get a larger diameter barrel to fit? Thanks.

Yes, the AICS 2.0 chassis will fit a heavy varmint barrel profile. The AICS will fit up to a 1.25" dia. barrel and the heavy varmint barrel is 1.25" at the action.

As to fitting the barrel into your HS stock, that can be done too. The cleanest way by hand is to wrap sandpaper around a heavy dowel and sand down the barrel channel. This works best if you don't have to remove too much material.

Thanks for the quick response. Would removing the material from the HS stock compromise the structural integrity? It is a free floating barrel stock so my initial reaction would be no but a second opinion is always welcomed.

Well, how much material are you going to have to remove? Have you measured it and the barrel to know what it entails?

Yes, if you remove too much, it will weaken the stock.

I don't think removing enough material to open you barrel channel enough for a varmint barrel will mess with your stock's integrity. Sure will be lighter than going to a chassis. Go look on YouTube for tips on how to do it without removing too much - it'll help you to end up with a professional looking finish. It's not hard AT ALL! Just take your time. Do NOT rush.
