I have been researching for several days now and am planning to purchase a GSG-5 in the next month. I would like to know the following:

1. What is the difference in a GSG-5, GSG-522, GSG-5SD?

2. Which is more reliable/ less prone to breakdown?

I have read mixed reviews on the gsg5 but decided to buy one about a year ago. I have known some people that have had good experiences with them but I did not. I had constant feeding problems with the gun. I sent it back to the manufacture and they replaced a laundry list of parts on the gun. It wasn't any more reliable when I got it back. I tried different mags. All different kinds of ammo and nothing worked. I sold mine.

I have a pre-lawsuit GSG-5. It's about as accurate as a stock 10/22. A lot of fun, but you cannot run it dirty. I field-strip, clean and lightly lube after every range trip. The last round bolt hold open and mag safety can get stuck if you let grime and carbon build up. I like mine a lot but wouldn't have any issues trading it for one of the real HK/Umarex .22s or a M&P-15 22.
