Rifle Scopes Reticle off zero with Eotech and the 3x magnifier?

Looking at a Eotech and the 3x magnifier combo for an AR...

I had one before and I liked it alot. but I was told that with a setup like this, the reticle does not correctly 'align' with the magnifier in place. there is some type of distortion and your reticle will be off a little bit with magnifier in place.

This was before I got into distance shooting, so I never did any testing to confirm.

can anyone confirm this or explain it to me?

There could be two things they were talking about. The current EOTech magnifiers have adjustments to center the reticle in the magnifier sight window. The first generation magnifier did not so it could have been a little off center. Once you add the magnifier you no longer have a parallax free optic so if you shift your head off center you will shift the poi.
