Rifle build question.

Alrighty Gentlemen,

After months of gleaning information of this site I have stumbled upon a series of questions that I am no longer willing to rifle through the myriad of posts to find advice on what I should do.

Thus I now have a profile and here I am.

I am sitting on a Remington 700 SA that was originally chambered in .243, All I have left is the action and I want to make it a build worth my time and money.

Basically, I want your opinions on good barrel makers, who you think the top few are and how I go about getting them. Do I send my action in (I would like it chambered in .260)?

That being said, this is just a toy, I'm not keen on getting fleeced just so I can say it's the "best" so though I want a good barrel I dont want to pay out the nose, so if y'all know some makers with reasonable prices and products I'd appreciate it.

Then, once I get that barrel do I send it all in to get it mounted with the stock I want?

Finally, there is much debate over what type of mag system to get, which one works best with 700 actions? Can I install them myself?

I know these are long questions to answer, so for those of you who tackle these I'm grateful.

If you could provide some info on what your budget is for a completed rifle it would be helpful.

Give triple G a call over in Stephenville, Garland can whip you up a nice stick and have it out in a few weeks instead of a few months with the bigger named builders.

Try a Krieger tube, and a McM stock, then the badger bottoms are nice, so are the CDI units for DBM setups. theres some positive post about the surgeon units but have never fondled one so cannot comment on them. 260 is a great caliber.

For a do it yourself bottom you can get a HS precision stock and HS precision DBM setup you have to pop a small piece out otherwise its close to drop in.
