You're arguing the english language and you're calling people who take a barreled action, trigger assembly, stock, scope base, rings, optic, and other parts and turn those parts into a rifle ridiculous.
Custom means you changed something to suit your own tastes/preferences.
I understand what you're getting at but according to the language we've been speaking since birth you're fighting a losing argument.
Anyone can turn around and say that any number of "Custom Builders" aren't that at all because they didn't forge the barrel, action and all the other metal parts themselves but did some "custom" work to finish those parts and then assembled the rifle with those parts.
