I was at the range and had 10 125 gr Nozzlers factory ammo rounds left from a previous session. When I inspected the fired brass there were some good smears on the heads and it was putting up a burr. On one the burr was substancial. What causes this or is Nozzler brass just really soft? Also, Rifle is sighted at 100 yds with M118LR. Look at how much drop the 125's get at 100. The 125's shoot night and day soft compared to the M118LR I usually shoot. The primers didn't seems overly flat to me but ehh I am new so what do I know. Also, yes I did not clean my rifle after last weekend. However, I only fired about 25 rounds last weekend and it WAS cleaned before that.

The primers look cratered a bit and like they have a sharp flattening edge before they round back off and the center one looks to have leaked gas around it. Maybe bad brass but seems like the pressure is high. The smears are hard and there's enough flow to get inside the ejector cut out a fair amount to be creating a burr like that. Make sure there nothing stuck to the bolt face and nothing inside the ejector cutout from a previous piece of brass. That could do it.

Im not a fan of Nosler ammo.

I had some 175 Nosler CC factory loads and was impressed with the accuracy....definitely not a competitor to FGMM.

I felt they were hot and giving bad accuracy as a result.

Was the bolt sticky? Did it take extra force to lift? From a factory load, it seems odd

It is a gas gun. LaRue UU Kit in 308/762.

Six, Thanks for input. I will do a teardown and inspection before cleaning. Yes primers are noticeably more flat compared side by side to the M118LR primers. Also, the gap/around the primers is noticeably smaller. Should I toss the brass or can they still be used a few times?

I’d really be concerned about the gas leaking around the primers. If you look closely, it’s not just one of them, but two, possibly all three. I believe I’d send those pics to Nosler, along with A pic of the lot number on the box.

Yes, factory Nozzler. I intend to send pictures and brass back to Nosler along with the box it came in. I will let them see for themselves. Maybe I get a free box? Who knows.

Just a thought... you were using a semi auto right? If so, did you tune your gas block for this load? You may see less deformation if you close the gas block a bit maybe?

Just an idea.

Edit to add: sometimes a suppressor can make the brass abuse problem worse in an AR10. I say sometimes and not all the time because I'm sure someone will say that's not the case.
