I bought a B&C stock for my sps tactical last week and now my rifle is shooting worse. It was sub half inch before and now It is about an inch. I thought it might be that the trigger is causing me to pull off so I ordered a shilen to replace the x-mark pro. The B&C stock is the light tactical with aluminum bedding block. Someone suggested that it might need a skim bed but I don't know. Can anyone explain to me what I need to do to fix the problem?

Re: Rifle Problem

First thing I would do is check the torque on the action screws, also and I don't want to sound like a Dick but check that the Barrel is free floating and that the action is seated properly in the stock as in the inlet on the aluminum bedding block doesn't have any burrs or other junk in it.
also skim bedding will almost always help accuracy.
Hope this helps.

Re: Rifle Problem

Make sure the recoil lug isn't bottomed out in the stock and the action hovering above the aluminum block. I had that problem before and glass bedded the action and groups shrunk dramatically. You can put a small piece of play dough between the front of the action and the bedding block, tighten it down and when you take the action back out you should be able to see where the play dough was pinched all the way down to bare aluminum on the block where the front of your action was touching the block. This will show you if you are getting good contact or if it may need a bedding job.

Re: Rifle Problem

Also make sure you tilt the rifle's muzzle up when tightening the action screws. You want the back of the recoil lug to rest firmly against the aluminum bedding block before the screws are tight.

Re: Rifle Problem

Thanks for the replies. The barrel is free floating and the screws are tight. The recoil lug should be tight as well. I got a new trigger installed tonight and if that doesn't get it I will get it skim bedded.
