Riflescope help for my JP-15

Hello everyone,

Thank you for allowing me to be on this forum, I appreciate it. With that said, I recently ordered a JP-15 5.56/223 and I am looking for an all around riflescope that will allow me to shoot short and longer distance to 500 yards.

I am currently looking at the Leupold Mark 5HD 2-10x30 (not sure if it is worth paying the extra $500 for the illumination?)

Next, I am looking at the Nightforce NXS 2.5-10x42 (I know the NX8 is better glass, however their 2.5-20x50 I think will be too big for my 16 inch JP-15?)

I am also open to suggestions and my budget is around $2,500. Thank you in advance for your help.

i have a vortex 1-6 razor hd ii on my similar jp and use it in 2 & 3 gun matches out to 500yds. no issues, great and sturdy glass/scope.

that nxs 2.5x10x42 is an awesome scope but obviously a little larger form factor. if you will be shooting at cqb distance you might want a true 1x at the low end. but if most of your shooting is a longer distances than the 10x would be helpful.

My 20" JP is very accurate, but only with certain ammo. Hornady Black 75gr, Defender 69gr SMK, and a custom load from Copper Creek using 77gr Berger's.

Vortex Razor 1-6x or 1-10x. I think you’ll be happy having 1x on the low end for a .223. FOV is huge, great dot brightness and optics are very fast. 1-10x has a better reticle for precision / shooting @ distance.
