Hi Guys,
Am starting and promoting rimfire long distance shooting here in the Philippines ( i shoot up to 200 meters) for the first matches I used the Sniper Hide short courses - and they have proven to be very likeable - Have set up a site http://lrrp.weebly.com/index.html wherein shooters can have a look see at what is going on and download all that is necessary.
So far they love the 4 Position here. As a result of the two competitions I have held there has been a rush to buy rimfire rifles here - first to go where the CZ's. Now I have guys coming out of the woodwork with Anchutz's, old Winchesters, fine Sako's and some nice Remingtons.
Would appreciate any advice and courses and targets that we can use here in the Philippines...
thinking of doing the 100-300 yard/meter match this December.
If ever you get into this part of the world - do look me up..

Welcome to the Hide, jcg.

From where I'm setting I'd say you have things headed very well in the right direction. Good looking info site by the way. IMHO, I would continue with what is working for you and your group and poll your shooters to see what competitions they would like to do as well.

200 yard rimfire isn't for everyone, so if you hold these competitions as somewhat of a "side match" everyone should be happy and comfortable and continue to shoot from the ranges they have come to enjoy shooting.

On a personal note; I'm finding the 100 yard SH Rimfire competitions quite enjoyable, but will also continue with the 200 yard shooting.

Nicely done!!!

Re: Rimfire Competitions in the Philippines

Thanks Joe, will keep that in mind. Have divided the matches into three namely the short range matches 25-50 meters so all the city ranges can hold the matches, the medium range matches - in effect anything above 50 meters shy of 200 meters max., and the long range matches patterned after SnipersHide 100-200-300 yard matches - just added the competition rulebook draft -
will keep what you said in mind and make the long range match a side match come December - should take a poll on this as you advised and see how many want it.
thanks- appreciate the words of wisdom...
will let them try a 100 meter match.

Hi Joe,
Looked at your Nebraska site - great idea of the swinging targets, do you mind if we try it out here. It gives instant gratification or disappointment if you miss the swingers. Perhaps I can use them out to 200. With Gongs - with opposing winds, we can't hear the hits - the swingers should make it easier to spot hits . Nice site.

Thanks Johnny. By all means give the swingers a try. I just made these from washers and mending braces turned in the vise and hung on a threaded bar. For longer ranges and bigger metal targets I hang them with chain.

I've always felt that paper & metal matches combined make for a good contest. Have fun my friend, you guys are doing great!
