In order to clear the bolt on one of my .22s I have to mount the scope pretty high. What adverse effect does this have? I know on my ROMAK3 the POSP is high enough to use the regular sights, which puts the scope approx 3 inches above the barrel. It is also offset to the right slightly. It works perfectly even when I use the turrets to compensate for wind and elevation out to 750m.
Since I'll be going from 50 to 100yds mostly and occasionally 200yds is it more important to mount the scope as close to the bore as possible?

Re: ring height... how important?

1. positive and consistant cheek weld which messes with eye alignment.

2. sore neck muscles

3. more apt to canting the rifle

4. going that high, you will probably run out of adjustment past 100 yards, maybe even less.

5. more apt to bump it on everything.

6. tough to shoot in the prone position
