what rings (brand and size) for a Gen 1 Razor 5X20 50 mm? (Very heavy bull barrel)
vortex says 35mm but others say "34" mm will work??

35mm is tube size. As for height, it depends on your rifle.

35mm. I owned a gen i Rzr but sold it. I still have the 35mm Spuhr mount.

Yep 35mm.. i run seekins low rings on my rifle. Its a rem 700 long action with a steel 1 piece leupold mk 4 base (20 moa) and i have a bartlein HV barrel. With the sunshade and cover on the end you can just see enough gap for me to be comfortable with it.

I would trust others and run the 34mm, what would the manufacturer know about their own product.

Don't ever trust those "others" who say you can put a 35mm tube in a 34mm ring.

What rifle? Here are the Seekins Low .95" height rings on a Seekins 20 MOA base with the Razor. The barrel is a med palma contour.
