An amazingly funny guy who did some great political satire... and was an equal-opportunity offender! Totally awesome guy!

Interesting that he had a Masters Degree and was on his way to a PhD when he was drafted. Could have gotten a deferment easily. Or gone OCS. Instead, he served as an enlisted soldier (albiet at the NSA).

He also invented the "Jello Shot." Who knew?

Guys like him and Johnny Carson and Ed McMahon... were real entertainers. Not leftist weenies. The only one really left in that same mold is probably Jay Leno.

And I have to admit, I listened to a lot more Tom Lehrer over the years than I did "Ozzy." Yup, I said it!

Sorry to hear that. Lots of old classic folks are dropping like flies....

"Who's Next?" ;)

Don't know, but they have Willie Nelson swaddled in bubble wrap...

I still have his "That was the Year that Was..." CD. I actually recall the TV show ("That Was the Week that Was...") whic was a satirical review of the week's news. They had Tom do a different song at the close of each episode. I recall the "Polution" song well. It had two different versions, based on where he was singing it.

This recording was in San Francisco, hence the last verse. When he played New York, etc. he would sing, "The Breakfast Garbage you throw away in Troy,... they drink for lunch in Perth Amboy....." :ROFLMAO:

Incredible musician, too. He played 95% of that song without ever looking at the keyboard, and it wasn't just simple chords.
