RL 15 any good in 30-06 using 175's - 190's?

Re: RL 15 any good in 30-06 using 175's - 190's?

I've used it with 190 SMKs and 210 Bergers with consistent .5 moa accuracy.

I went up to 52gr with the 190s, and 50gr with the 210s, in Norma brass, and moly'd bullets.

Here's an old pic, but it gives you an idea,

50gr under a 210 yielded 2575 fps via 26" bbl.

52gr under a 190 yielded 2700 fps via 26" bbl.

So, not max velocity potential, but it sure shoots straight. I used the 210 load in a field match and did very well out to 1000 yards with it.

I was debating on whether or not to use the RL 15 since I have 10lb's of RL 19, but this did it for me, so I snatched up 10lb's of the RL 15..

LSU, for someone not going to reload unless components are handy you're sure pulling in lots of powder :lol

Good for you, pretty soon you'll be just as addicted as the rest of us... it sounds like you're well on the way.

Montana Marine those are some really nice groups. Have you used the same load with naked bullets? If so what were the results? Thanks.

I've never tried it with naked bullets. I would imagine results should be similar, assuming a decent barrel and 'smithing.

In those days I was shooting it in BR mode. Bald Eagle front rest and leather sandbag aft. My only recreational shooting venue at the time was Flatwood's near Camp Lejeune. A lot of nice calm days there.

Wind is pretty much a constant here in MT, and I'm on the ground all the time now.
