Back in BHam!!!
Experimented with the RL17 today in my rifle.

Rifle specs:

GAP .243 Winchester on a trued Remmy700 action
27" Rock 8 twist barrel w/ Bennie Cooley brake

Load:

My normal load is:
47.5gr of RL25
Win brass
Fed 210m primers
115 BN coated DTACs seated 2.340 (ogive to base using comparator), .010 off lands

It chrono's at:

MV (avg.) 2959 fps
SD-6
ES-16

This is a proven load that works, developed by George...

Here's results from RL17 load tests today, all specs the same except powder. I wasn't getting near the velocities that 6mmbr.com was claiming to get from their 6XC shooting 115 Moly Bergers.

39.3 RL-17
MV (avg.)- 2848 fps
SD- 12
ES- 30

39.6 RL-17
MV- 2869
SD- 33
ES- 12

I jumped up a bit b/c these were way to slow...

40.5 RL-17
MV- 2942
SD- 11
ES- 33

40.8
MV- 2946
SD- 7
ES- 20

41.1 RL-17
MV- 2985
SD- 3
ES- 8

At 41.1gr I was showing just a tick less pressure signs than with my RL-25 load, some primer flattening w/ very slight shinny marks on case head. No sticky bolt. I'm going to load up a few more up just a little hotter, but I think 41.1gr might be promising...

If I remember, those guy's were using loooong barrels. I've pushed the 115 to 3083 out of a 26" Schneider in 6XC. I think you have velocity hiding somewhere.
