none of your business
This was one of the rifles that I liked at the SHOT show.Looks like it could be a real winner!Lots of good features.Kind of a AR-15/AK-47 hybrid.I don't know if it is so new that anybody has one yet sept the makers. So just asking.

Do any of you own one? How did you like it?

Can you tell us how accurate and reliable it was?

Re: Robinson Armament Co XCR???

Been out for a few years reliable as all get out, no long term history for support (rather the opposite with the M-96 from RA) accuracy has been improved (or capability) with their new trigger. Have not benched one since the new triggers came out. BTW they make a 7" pistol ...basically the same gun with shorter piston system and no stock. Would make a heck of a SBR platform with a folding stock and a can.

Re: Robinson Armament Co XCR???

Bought one over a year ago. Probably my second favorite 223/5.56 next to my SPR. I haven't picked up any of the caliber conversions yet, but if they ever release the 6.5 conversion I may have to give it a shot. They have a 300-500 round break in period, where you might experience some hicups, but they are easy to maintain and provide accuracy on par with my other M4s. The new trigger is very nice. Robinson Arms support has been great. All in all no complaints. They also have an XCR-M (308, 260, etc...) in the works.

Re: Robinson Armament Co XCR???

Great rifles. After my break in period no problems at all. It's my favorite 5.56 right now. Accurate as an AR. I will note this, I never had a break in period with my AR and never had any problems with DI. So, I guess the break in period is the only down side to the Robinson.

Re: Robinson Armament Co XCR???

I would have to agree. I had one also and decided to sell it. It was very accurate and I loved the concept. However, a rifle that costs what it does should not require a break in period, especially on a trigger! On mine the trigger would not reset. You could fire a round, let the trigger all the way off, pull it again and nothing. I called ROBARM and I was told that they are very aware of this issue and it USUALLY goes away after firing about 500 rounds. They advised if it still did it after that, I could have sent in and they would fix it. Just my opinion, but that sucks! I have never heard of another rifle needing to fire 500 rds to get a trigger to work the way it should.

If that issue is now resolved, I think they are great design. Only other down side I see, is spare parts. AR parts are literally everywhere vs 1 company. Just my thoughts.

Re: Robinson Armament Co XCR???

Sounds like it had some teething pains maybe some other pains as well???

My AR's have never been super reliable! That's why I was considering the XCR. Sure wish I could find a semi auto that didn't jam (AK-47) but was accurate (AR-15).Does such exist?

Thanks for your comments guys!

Re: Robinson Armament Co XCR???

Mine work well. I have 2 in 7.62x39 with the newer trigger. I have not experienced any break in issues. The C product magazines do require some lubrication though. This is my favorite carbine.

Re: Robinson Armament Co XCR???

I mitigated most of the break in by hand cycling the bolt about 300 times. This reduced my break in to about 60 rounds. I could smell the Park burnishing in while doing so. I am sure this is what causes trouble during break in. Support has been great from what I have seen (not needed).Once I have a little more of a round count through mine I will likely replace at least 1 of my other AR's with an XCR, maybe in 6.8. I believe they have a shorter more compact version in the works and a 308 as well. I cant say Im terribly thrilled with the looks, I like the look of the ACR much better but the handling of the XCR is fantastic!!! Its what sold me on it to begin with. My ony other complaint besides the break in is that Robarm is REALLY slow in the product dev dept. Accessory items can be measured in years before they emerge. The price of a small shop I guess.

Re: Robinson Armament Co XCR???

I have one, and love it. For 1500 bucks it does everything that the ACR and SCAR does and costs half as much. Also the new trigger resolved the reset issue.

Re: Robinson Armament Co XCR???

The break in period is a bonus. Buy cheap Wolf ammo and run a case through it having fun

Viola...all broke in. I have seen several broke in this way and most didn't have a FTF or jam in 1000 rounds of WOLF (don;t think that I would put my AR through any of the Wolf). They have light and heavy barrels and a friend had a heavy barrel fluted and the whole thing ceracoated to match his stock and MagPul grip (I believe it was FDE). It looks very nice and folds into a compact little package. I want to see one of the pistol uppers SBR'd onto a regular lower. That would be a kick to shoot. Too bad no full auto available (they missed the boat not making it compatible with the FA parts of an AR (what was that a transferrable sear or something).

I have 2 LWRC 223's, my brother has one, and there are at least 3 others among our friends. I don't know of a single jam that has occurred- not one. I personally have shot probably 1500 rds. Mine aren't super accurate, but they just don't jam. You pull the trigger and they go bang- every time.

Re: Robinson Armament Co XCR???

A friend has one and loves it (gun is about 4 yrs old), we took it out and abused the shit out of it one weekend running all kinds of differant ammo , with can on and off , never cleaned it and it ran perfect the whole time. He has thousands of rounds through it now and still likes it just as much. I think the trigger sucked but he has grown used to it I guess

Re: Robinson Armament Co XCR???

I shot MOA with a terrible trigger and Sheep Dog ammo. I believe it could do better as the new trigger is out and I am not as accurate with a S&B short dot as I could be with a higher magnification scope.

Re: Robinson Armament Co XCR???

I have been interested in the XCR for a bit but I am holding out for the XCR-M in .308. Robinson Arms told me that they are aiming for a 1st quarter 2010 release but didn't go into more detail.
Anyone experienced any significant drawbacks with the function, design, fit, finish, etc of the XCR? The breakdown lever gives me some concern but I have admittedly not had my hands on an XCR yet. I would like to do all my homework before I drive out to the nearest stocking dealer to check them out. Thanks for your input.

Re: Robinson Armament Co XCR???

Steve,

Get a case of Wolf ammo (cheapest you can find) and run it through the gun (slowly) to break it in right. You won't be disappointed with the function once it is broken in.

I took the XCR out and shot it today.Only about 60 rounds but zero malfunctions.I have to admit I like it! It's very unique.I was banging the middle of my 8" plate at 200Y no problem.

I'll post a range report with pics in a couple weeks.

after his little mitt romney BS, alex robinson will never see my business.

Not doubting you but that's weird since he's a firearms manufacturer.

What is their faith ?

Re: Robinson Armament Co XCR???

not that it really matters, but mormon.

even when confronted with various youtube videos of romney saying he'd have no problems banning the exact things robinson manufactures, he still told people they were full of it and didn't know what they were talking about.

I guess he can move in with romney and be an assistant when/if his 2cnd amendment rights and livelihood are taken away
