What’s the verdict on lever (SOAR) vs knob (BTC-Pro) for the Atlas bipod??

I like the idea of not having to use an extra mounting plate if I chose the BTC...

I bought both and chose to stay with the BTC-Pro. The lever is superior in speed and locking strength, but I didn't like that the extra mounting plate adds almost 1/2" in height to the setup. I prefer to keep the bipod as close to the bore axis as possible, so the BTC-Pro wins out for now. I'm hoping they design a direct-mount lever for the Atlas bipods!

Agreed and the ability to use on a pic rail or 1.5" dovetail.. But I do wish you could have the lever.

I think the issue is the amount to travel needed.

I messaged the RRS rep here on SH, and his response was the internals of the SC-LR lever interfere with the 2-hole pattern of the Atlas bipod. Hence the single large center bolt that attaches to the adapter plate.

FYI @mrtoyz there was a thread about this a while back if you haven't seen it yet. https://www.snipershide.com/shooting/threads/rrs-sc-lr-vs-btc-pro-for-atlas.6881245/

I have both, I’ve been using the BTC to atlas on my match gun and am fond of it for ease of use but wouldn’t use it on my rifle I drag around the woods with me though. The SOAR i havnt used yet but I will have my extra atlas, adapter plate by weeks end to putt together and try out and give feed back on.

They want the BTC-Pro to be available in a lever version. I told them we can not do it at the moment without drastically changing it.
Yes, that would be awesome. The SC-LR's lever mechanism would be great if it could mount directly to the Atlas like the BTC-Pro does. I understand the difficulties in doing it though, so for the time being I'll remain happy with the BTC-Pro!

I also really love the BTC-PRO. The only thing I wish was different is to have a 4mm hex head (I run an AIAX) be machined into the end of the knob. At hand tight, my bipod crawls forward on the HRD rail after about 30-40 rounds, and it would be nice to be able to put a little torque on it if I know I’m going to shoot an extended string. Otherwise, the BTC-PRO is perfect to me.

I have used the BTC-Pro, Sunwayfoto DDC-42i, Masterpiece Arms RAT Base, and the Ckye Pod ARCA mount. The BTC-Pro is my favorite. It locks up tighter than the Sunwayfoto and MPA RAT base. It can also be used on ARCA or picatinny. The only thing that locks up as tight as the BTC-Pro is the Ckye pod ARCA mount, but that it proprietary to that system.

Machining a 4mm hex hole would drive up cost. Actually, any change drives up cost, and any time a tool touches the part for more work, cost goes up. That being said, probably the easier, lower cost route is to just mill a slot that the length of a 4mm allan key would fit in. Just lay the allan wrench across the slot and turn to torque it down.
