Ruger 1911

Ruger makes a decent 1911. Sub $2k 1911s can be a crapshoot in general with hollow points in terms of reliability (flame away).

Can't speak to pricing, but that's what they were new pre covid times.

Look on GB and other sites to see if the pricing is fair. Make sure you can resell if you dislike it.

Not anywhere near the same price range, but look into Staccato & Alchemy

(if you run a pistol can, get the threaded barrel from them when you buy the gun, always get the red dot mounting option)

In hide terms I'm the definition of
"a poor" lol

I have a bergara with an arken on it....

I dont shoot enough to justify spending top teir money. Nor do I have top teir money.

So I ball on a budget.

I built a gun crafter the other day and it ended up being $4k when I added it to the cart.

I had a SR1911 for a long time, it was just fine for an entry 1911. Sights were alright, slight wobble for fitment, trigger had a false wall and was a bit mushy. Threw an ignition kit in it and a shitty cast brake and shot some retardedly hot 185gr JHPs over 7.7gr of Power Pistol as my primary load. It didn't self-destruct like my Kimber did.

Ruger makes good 1911s in their price range.

Nice thing about buying USED higher end firearms is that there is minimal loss when resold.

Just my 2 cents, but I wouldn't buy another .45 1911 these days unless it was a custom build for my particular specced project.

Although I love .45 and use it a lot myself, the market for .45 is drying up as most shooters and new buyers have migrated to the 9mm 1911/2011 philosophy.

Resale will be faster/easier in the long run with 9mm if you're buying an off the rack gun. (Baer, GI, Alchemy included)

That said, .45 ball on a gov model is the easiest to make work reliably on the platform.

I've known 2 guys that were struggling with their newish 1911s in .45, both guns ran like Pfaff sewing machines using Wilson Elite & 47D magazines when I let them borrow them. I used to like the CM Shooting Stars as well, but I haven't owned them in years.

9mm with a sub 4" barrel are going to be more difficult in terms of solid reliability compared to a .45 gov. Quality magazines required for 9mm regardless.

Mine was a good shooter, never any problems. I have also had great results with a Rock Island full size in 9mm....it is my favorite range gun. I have had excellent results with the Hooper Gun Works magazines in 9mm.

I think im gonna go make him an offer on it. If he took it in on a trade I doubt he has much into it.

Been watching the hype on the new SA prodigy and think I will wait till they clean up the act a little bit or snag one used some day.

I bought one for a range/beater 1911 when they first came out. It just runs whatever I feed it and refuses to quit. Certainly not fancy, but hard not to like.

Admitting is the first step in your walk along the 12 steps to "go be poor somewhere else".

Otherwise, the SR1911 is decent for the cash, if you can snaggle it, and get one on discount. Pay full price, but get them to throw in a few boxes of ammo, probably a better deal if its a counter weight.
