Ruger American/Magpul Stock Magazine Question

I have a Ruger American Predator (.308 Win) that I put in a Magpul Hunter stock (takes AICS mags). I'm going to work up some loads for it, but in order to reach the jam point the COAL needs to be 2.9380". I usually start testing seating depths at jam minus 20 thou, too long for most mags. I see that a lot of the AICS metal mags with no binder plate will accommodate that length, but here's my question:

Will rounds with a COAL of ~2.94" require any Dremel work with this setup?

I know feed ramp notching is pretty much SOP with R700s feeding long rounds from AICS mags, but the Ruger's feed ramps seem pretty flush to the magwell on this stock. I don't really see anything to trim. Just for grins and giggles, I loaded a dummy round at jam length, put the dummy in the Magpul magazine (top round, of course it won't fit down in the mag body), inserted the mag with no issues, and it fed fine. I have no idea if that really tells me anything though, since the metal mags may be dimensionally different.

Anybody already BTDT and can tell me if the non binder plate mags will work or not before I spend $60-$70 a mag?

Thanks

MDT says their binderless aics mags support up to 2.960” cartridge oal. If your rifle chamber doesn’t have an overhang that will cause interference with a binderless aics feeding rounds, you should be good to go.

Ok. That's what I thought, and what I was hoping for.
I appreciate it.

Seems like it should work. I never had issues with long seated heavies in my 6cm predator

I’m wondering the same thing for my new Magpul Hunter Stock. From what I’ve been reading 700’s and Savage 110 300 WSM and 6.5 PRC are also SOP for needing ramp work down with binderless ACIS mags. My deal is the 110 300 WSM fits like a glove in the Magpul Hunter stock, but I didn’t know the PMags didn’t work for the 300 WSM or PRC magnum rounds. The angle of the mag ribs don’t allow the round to have the correct angle or height for the bolt to pick up without the casing edge catching on top edge of the PMag, then of course there is a small overhang from the feed ramp. Maybe 1/8 inch. So I’m hoping to learn that using a binderless ACIS mag will work. Anyone try this or have an inkling?
