Ruger Magazine compatibility ??

I looked for a while and couldn't find a definite answer to this question.

What is the compatibility of the ruger Mark II and III series pistols with each other?

specifically if I have MKIII mags will they work in a MKII frame?

Will MKII work in a MKIII?

I realize the mag release is in very different locations.

i have both pistols.

the MK3 mags work just fine in my MK2. i do have trouble with one of the MK2 mags in the MK3. but the MK3 was having feeding problems with the crappy remington hollow points regardless of either generation mag, the MK2 ate them up with out a problem with both generation mags. so i am not sure if it was an ammo issue or a mag issue. it was all we had on hand so i was not able to test this theory. i will try and take my win m-22 ammo this weekend and test this for you if i have time.

also, when you study the mags, they are identical.
