Does anybody know if those old triangle vietnam era m16a1 handguards will fit on a rpr? If they do is there anything special that you need to make it work. Or will it not work because of hand guard height?

Those handguards need a handguard cap (which butts up against the M16 FSB) and a handguard slip ring...neither of which the RPR has. There has to be another rail you could use on the RPR...even if you could make the M16A1 handguards work, why would you. They were replaced for a reason.

compass lake engineering makes a float tube that uses a standard handguard, basically a float tube built onto a barrel nut but might work

I agree. For the price it would take to make this work, you could pay a few extra bucks for the seekins. BONUS: its triangle shaped too.
