Have you looked through either? I didn't care for the Leupold because the field if view was too canalized and I didn't care getting behind the glass so much. I don't know anyone locally that had a S&B in stock to look through ... So I opted for a Z6i 1-6. If it's the magnification you're looking for in a 1-8 it's like this, if you can't see your target with 6x power then 8x power isn't going to do much of anything for you either. Beyond being reliable; Reticle, glass quality, and field of view will be the biggest determining factors that will be most important over time.
