Just a question, as I'm not sure as to how these came about.

I own afformentioned scope, and I know they arent the most abundant scope/reticule combination around, but how did these get created?

Did S&B make the scope and send them to PR for a reticule?
Did S&B make the scope with the PR reticule in-house?

Ive heard the reason you dont see alot of these around is that PR and S&B dont play well togeather anymore....whats the scoop on this?

Re: S&B 5-25x56 Gen2 XR

I believe S&B sent the scopes to Premier and had them installed. I have one of the 5-25s with the Gen II reticle and also had one of the 4-16x42s which I got directly from Premier with the Gen II. That is why I believe they were converted by Premier in house.

As to the two companies not getting along, best to leave it at that.

Re: S&B 5-25x56 Gen2 XR

I had a Gen2 XL in a 4-16x50. Nice reticle, but I like the p4f better. No tragedy that you can't get the Gen2 anymore, IMO.

So the correct answer is probably both

Doesn't matter. It will be fine either way. Mine has been flown all over the country and beat up quite a bit and keeps on rolling.

<span style="font-style: italic">Wheres-Waldo</span>,

I don't like to resurrect old threads (last post was almost two months ago by <span style="font-style: italic">Rob01</span>), but <span style="font-style: italic">if you have the original box that your Gen 2 XR-equipped PMII came in</span> I can help you determine whether your PMII's reticle was S & B-installed or Premier-installed.

Look at the label at the end of the S & B box. These labels are applied at S & B and list the model number, serial number, and reticle. If the serial number on your scope and the box match and the label lists <span style="font-style: italic">"Gen 2 XR"</span> then your scope's Gen 2 XR reticle was factory-installed. This makes your scope a "German" Gen 2 XR. The box below is from a "German" PMII 5-25X Gen 2 XR.

If the serial number on your scope and the box match and the label lists a different reticle, your scope was originally equipped with that reticle at the factory in Germany and the Gen 2 XR reticle was retrofitted later.

The retrofit could have been performed by either Premier or S & B, but since Premier is located in Virgia and used to perform technical services on S & B scopes' it stands to reason that most Gen 2 XR reticle retrofits were done by Premier here in the States instead of being sent back to Germany through S & B USA.

Premier Reticles used to charge $250.00 for non-illuminated reticle changes and $350.00 for illuminated models. FYI, all PMII 5-25Xs' are "LP" (illuminated) models.

Without the box you will have to email S & B USA with the serial number. S & B USA will have to contact S & B Germany to be able to determine which reticle was originally installed in your scope. It can be done but will take some time, especially if you contact S & B now. S & B Germany shuts down completely during the Holiday Season.

But as <span style="font-style: italic">Rob01</span> said, both are fine. They will be the same functionally.

Re: S&B 5-25x56 Gen2 XR

Aries64,
ummm not exactly. We printed those labels here in Winchester also. So even though you have matching serial numbers that scope could have been actually made here in Winchester with the Gen II XR reticle.
The short of it is:
You could have the Gen II installed at either location and the only true way to tell is to either contact S&B or me and either one of us can tell where is was installed. PM me with your serial number I will be glad to help.

Thank you for the correction, Paul - that is good to know. Contact either you or S & B.
