I've settled on the scope, which reticle is best on it? I'll be getting the ffp model and using it from 100-1500m with a .338 rifle on paper and softskined targets.

Between the two I would choose the P4F without a doubt. The P4F is easily my favorite S & B reticle - easy enough to see at 8X for 100 meters but fine enough at 25X for 1,500 meters without obscuring too much of the target. The P4 is going to cover up alot more at 25X.

The only reticle better for distance than the P4F is the (Premier Reticles) Gen 2 XR, but the Gen 2 XR is no longer an option in a S & B unless you find one on the used market. Its' possible, but don't count on it. PMII 5-25X Gen 2 XRs' also command a premium.

I'm starting to like it just as much if not more than the Gen II XR, just wish it had the .5 mil hash mark from center.

Hey Jerry,

Nice to see you posting here. I've always liked the P4F, but the Gen 2 XR edges it out because I like the Gen 2 XR's very fine lines.

My ideal reticle would be a combination of the P4F and Gen 2 XR:

(1) Gen 2 XR line widths and subtensions

(2) Hashes all-around (as on the P4 and P4F). Full MIL hashes .02 MIL/.72"/2 CM tall, and Half-MIL hashes .01 MIL/.36"/1 CM tall.

(3) MILs' next to the "post" at 9, 12, and 3 O' Clock broken down into .02 MIL/.72"/2 CM increments (like on the P4 and P4F).

That that would be the shit for me, but for what can be had from S & B these days the P4F is the best for a PMII 5-25X.

By far the P4F the hands down choice of Team Blaster and many others!!

That would be refering to the "counter clockwise" direction of adjustment on the elevation and windage knobs. Most all come from Germany asssembled with the clockwise knobs.

That's what I figured, just making sure, thanks.

Re: S&B 5.5x25x56 in p4 or p4F?

I havent seen anyone here list what the center or thin part of the reticle covers at 100 yards.
I just picked up a 5-25x56 PMII with a P3L reticle from Euro optics.I requested information as to what the reticle coverages are and Alex made sure I got that information.
It was sent to me as a Adobe file.

P3 .22 at 100 yards
P3L .24 at 100 yards
P4L .25 at 100 yards
P4L fein .13 at 100 yards
Mil-Dot Gen II .22 at 100 yards

If you go from heavy to light. The P4L would cover 2.5 inches at 1000 yards. The P4L fein would cover 1.3 inches at 1000 yards.
