Anyone done such?
I have a S&B 4-16x50 PMII LP with the Gen II mil dot reticle.
I would prefer the Gen II XR of the P4L.

Would like input if anyone here has had a reticle change done on S&B?
Might be best to just sell it and purchase on with reticle of choice.

Thanks in advance.

Re: S&B Reticle Change?

I would email S&B and ask.

I know they don't offer the GenII XR reticle anymore and have no idea if they will change the reticle to that.

They probably will change it to the P4 though.

Your scope has a reticle that is no longer offered from S&B. The xr is also no longer offered. If you don't like it, sell it. It's worth more as is than with a p4 reticle. Also if you've ever had the experience of dealing with S&B's CS you'll save yourself a lot of time just selling and buying a new one.

Re: S&B Reticle Change?

According to S&B reticle change will cost $300. Their service and turnaround time for this operation has improved greatly since their US facility opened. You would probably end up spending more than $300 if you sold it and bought a new one.

This is right-on. While I do prefer the P4 over the Gen 2 Mildot it would be a shame to have S & B remove a reticle that is no longer available to them for install. Better to sell the scope and by another PMII 4-16X that is equipped with a P4 already.

This isn't fair, as <span style="font-style: italic">sickness</span> said, S & B's service <span style="font-style: italic">"has improved greatly since their US facility opened. You would probably end up spending more than $300 if you sold it and bought a new one."</span>

Earlier this year I sent a PMII 5-25X CM LP DT Gen 2 XR to S & B to have the turrets converted to CCW (Counterclockwise) rotation. It took less than 4 weeks turnaround time - including transit time to and from S & B. I posted full details in "<span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-style: italic">S & B U.S. Service Center open in NH!!!</span></span>". I began that thread 2/8/2010, which was the day I sent my second "German" PMII 5-25X CM/MIL CW Gen 2 XR to S & B for CCW conversion.

24 days later (3/8/2010) I had my scope back in my hands - thats' three and a half (3.5) weeks turnaround time including ten (10) days shipping time. I'd say that <span style="font-style: italic">so far</span>, S & B's service and warranty disadvantage is no longer applicable as witnessed by myself and others who have had scopes serviced at S & B's Service Center in New Hampshire.

Keith,

Glad to hear your experience was positive. It was your good fortune that prompted me to send my 5-25 in for a turret change. One month was quoted for turnaround, I received my scope in two months with the work done being wrong, I sent it back on my own dime, never did get an oops sorry we screwed that up, after another month I finally received my scope back. Needless to say my experience with the new service center was piss poor. I won't send a scope there again unless it's broke. As always ymmv.

Matt, I'm sorry to hear that you had a poor experience with S & B's service. I don't want to derail this thread, so if you don't mind please post about your experience in my "<span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-style: italic">S & B U.S. Service Center open in NH!!!</span></span>" thread or PM me. TIA.

Re: S&B Reticle Change?

Not sure if this helps, but I did P3 -> P4 update on mine. Scope is 3-12x50 PMII ST. It took 5 weeks altogether, but I live inside European Union. Scope was in Germany.
Very happy with whole process, got it serviced at same time.

You can update to DT turrets as well if you like btw.
Tho I prefer ST.
