Rifle Scopes S&B Reticle Change

Wondering on the experiences on changing reticles on S&Bs.

is it worth the effort or should I purchase a new factory unit with the reticle I want?

My advise is sell you existing glass and buy another in the correct reticle.
Schmidt used to charge 500 for the swap and keep your old reticle.


Last time I checked it had gone up to 750ish, if I remember correctly. That’s not worth it for me.

Just recently checked on that and was quoted $800-$1,000 depending on reticle.

They’re $500 for standard reticles and $900 for Horus.

It would depend what you currently have and what it is you want as to whether you’d be better off to have it swapped, or sell and buy. There are bargains on used S&B’s.

Any experience on the timing for a swap? ... want to go from a P4 to a H59.

the cost for a new S&B would well cover buying a slightly used and getting the reticle I want.

I ended up just getting a different scope as I felt the $800-$1000 was a little steep for me and I’m a S&B fan.

Yeah it can be. The cost is understandable. Super-high precision parts that must be replaced and recalibrated on high-end proprietary German-made instruments.
