Any of ya'll running a Schmidt and Bender on a LR 308? If so, what kind of mounts are you using? I have been using a IOR 2.5-10x42 FFP that I like, but I want a little more magnification. I have been thinking about the S&B 4-16x50 PMII, but this scope seems to have limited elevation travel compared to other comparable models at only 58 MOA. Therefore, I think I need a 34mm mount with some cant build in for a standard DPMS LR 308. I had originally had my mind set on the NF F1, but the MLR reticle leaves something to be desired after seeing it. Any help is appreciated.

Call and talk to Diann or Randy at Mile High Shooting. They will be happy to answer all your questions. Ask about their Accuracy International mounts with built in moa. I use a Schmidt and Bender PM II 4x16x50 with a 28 moa accuracy international base on my 243. I have 50+ moa upward travel. I use 21 moa at 800 yards. Havn't shot out to a 1000 yet but should have more than plenty of elevation left. LOL Donnie Hay

I went round and round with this, too, and here's what I figured, any decent mount with 20+ MOA is expensive.

I figure I can sell my DPMS upper (w/FA) for $175 or so. You can buy an IRA upper (see the SH group buy section) with a 23MOA built-in rail for $339, and have a REALLY nice setup for about the same money as buying the base and selling your upper.

I'm building my gun anyway, you may not want to take yours apart, but you can swap uppers in 30-45 minutes.

It does work that way, you need an aggressive angled base to get 58 MOA, you don't get that with a flat base.

I would personally get the IRA, it has 23MOA built in because of the S&B, and will give you the most elevation without a slanted base on top of the receiver because they usually sit high.

you can run the others on top, but we find the accuracy is not the same. We just swapped out one here for the train up with straight rings and it made a world of difference.

The AI base & rings with 28MOA will work, but it will sit very high, however it is your rifle and your choice.

LL,
are you saying accuracy is better with lower rings because of where the shooter rests, or for another reason? Reason I ask, is because I put the tall usmc rings on my 338LM so that the scope would line up better with my pvs-27,
