I have two S&W model 36 in 38SPL. Both of these guns over the past year have had the cylinder get very tight to open. Note both of thes hand guns are my and my mom's house guns hid in the house. I keep them clean and loaded. But have had thse issue happen with the stub nose about six months ago. Took to the local gunsmith fixed for about 12.00$ but not sure what is causing these.

Can anyone fill me in on these problem.

Thanks,
Ken

It's in the yoke the cylinder will not open and close without a lot of effort.

It sounds like the 2 screws on the side plate got mixed up.

Try swapping them to see if there is a change, if not dress the yoke screw down.

If the yoke screw is spring loaded, then oil it.
