S&W MP15-22 broken extractor

I got this thing 3 weeks ago and until last night the thing ran great. I was @ the range playing around @ 100 yds with it and after 1 1/2 mags thru it BANG! and not in a good way the extractor blew outta the gun and the case was split around the rim. Needless to say it shook me up. I do have to say Smith has been good on this they are sending a prepaid shipping label. Just hope it doesn't take forever to get it back.

I have heard this can be an issue. I have one I purchased for my girlfriend and it runs great. The store I purchased it from has had a couple with the extractor issue. S&W takes care of it in short order so customer service is not an issue.
