I picked up a .44 S&W. Frame is pre-29. Cyclinder and latch have been replaced. Both are in the white. Cyclinder yoke is stamped with an S below is F13 Andy what appears to be a date 02 9 62. Cyclinder is not recessed. Any clues on what the marking mean? If anything?

May just be workers markings from inspection, or fitting. 10 second google search and clicking on a S&W forum lead me to believe that’s the case. Tons of people have asked this various places.

Could be wrong

S&W used to mark the date of any rework on the grip frame in this way, did you check there to see if there is a date? I have never heard of of them being marked any where else.

Get with these guys, they will give you any info you need, but they will want pictures........
