SAC Comparator

I guess like a lot of guys I started with the Hornady comparator. The more I use the tool the more I have started to dislike it. On a good day I feel like I'm getting + or - .001 variations.
On the bullet comparator I polished them. Yet the bullets seem to still bind and sometimes leave rings.

So, is the SAC tool that much better? Should I be looking into another type of tool perhaps?

Yes ... it's that much better. That said, for seating depth, I use the Accuracy One Seating Depth Comparator ... it's clearly superior to any micrometer-based comparator. But the SAC is much more accurate than Hornady for head-space and OAL measurements.

SAC headspace comparators

Quick question, are they worth it? I am fumbling around being angry with my Hornady comparators thinking the case shoulder can move too much and it takes too long to get a measurement I am confident with. And yes, I am new to this so without doubt much of this could just be my inexperience...

Agreed, the SAC comparators are very well made and at least feel more consistent than my almost 20 year old Hornady and Sinclair gear.

Also, the Accuracy One comparator is awesome and a very quick way of measuring seating depths while loading. It functions a lot like a Redding Instant Indicator gauge, but you don't have to deal with switching dies or presses. You just pull the loaded round off the press and stick it in the comparator and be done. The downside is that it works best with short action cartridges, not so much on magnums I find.
