safe dial combination not working "drifting" video

I'm going to go out on a limb and make a bit of an assumption. That being, Sargent and Greenleaf (and pretty much all others) having different "levels" of quality and/or precision in different "levels" of locking mechanisms.

This being said, because of the explanation given by a locksmith to me, regarding the setting up of a typical vault door combination. Upon setting it up, each number is tried "one up and one down" through a series of "open attempts". To verify that the actual numbers are set where they are supposed to be, he then verified by attempting a "1/2 down" and a "1/2 up" combination run. As long as it works each time, then "the numbers" are on and will stay there. (his words)

Now, I'm pretty sure that the "locking guts" in the OP's example and the vault door story example are not the same. And THAT is the point I'm trying to make. SO, for the cost of an actual 'higher quality' locking mechanism and consider that with what you are locking,,,,, is that a venue to explore?

I'm just sayin'....
